Councillor’s report March 2017

The new location for the Southside Surgery is now known and, while it is a little far away (past Cameron Toll) it's good news that it is being retained.

Good news for Queen's Hall with £650k renovation announced from Scottish Government and Historic Scotland today (9th March).

Dumbiedykes: Environmental Health officers reporting trend of reduced numbers of discarded needles in the Southside/Dumbiedykes area. Skelf official bike park opening on 31st March. Dumbiedykes Residents Association still up and running but still some disagreements between members especially over Skelf and Parking. Parking proposals should come to August 2017 Transport committee. Might take 6 to 9 months after that for the scheme to be introduced.

Recommendations from council officers around the Causey project proposals not yet received. Complicated situation with a number of objections received.

Participatory budgeting session was held in Southside Community Centre in Feb and was reasonable successful. Newington cemetery (wildlife improvements) and Skelf/DRA (garden funds) were both successful.

In the May Alison Dickie is standing for the SNP (and kind of succeeding me). She stood in the 2016 Scottish government elections. Other 3 current councillors all standing again.

Cllr Jim Orr - 9th March 2017
